Founder, Chairman of the Board and Author of The Convergence Scorecard (Forthcoming) The 3-Legged Race, Six Billion Minds, and Sustained Innovation Executive Profile
A former senior executive at General Electric (GE) and other multi-nationals, Mr. Hoque is an internationally known entrepreneur and thought leader. In 1999, he founded his most recent company BTM Corporation (Business Technology Management Corporation). BTM Corporation provides management solutions that innovates new business models, enhances financial performance, and improves operational efficiency by converging business and technology with its unique products and intellectual property (IP). For his commitment to business technology convergence, CIO Quarterly magazine designated him, ‘Mr. Convergence’. In May 2008, the editors of Ziff Davis Enterprise named him as one of the Top 100 Most Influential People in Technology for conceiving and developing Business Technology Management (BTM), helping organizations transform into ‘whole-brained enterprises'. The founding of BTM Corporation turned into an eight-year convergence crusade. Along the way, Hoque has written five management books, established a non-profit institute - The BTM Institute, and become a leading authority on the issue of effective interaction between business and technology. Two of his previous books, Sustained Innovation and Winning the 3-Legged Race, were included in the “Top 5 Transformation Books” of the last few years, while Sustained Innovation also ranked in CIO Insight magazine’s “Editor’s Picks: The 10 Best Business Books of 2007”. He built his first commercial business technology product at the age of 19 while studying at the University of Minnesota. He founded two other award-winning companies prior to the BTM Corporation and is an early pioneer of re-usable software application components. In 1994, General Electric (GE) recruited him, then one of its youngest technology executives, to launch a comprehensive B2B electronic commerce spin-off. Under his leadership, the wingspan of BTM Corporation’s success now exceeds 12 major industries, including manufacturing, consumer goods, hospitality, financial services, insurance, defense, government agencies, and utilities. The company has twice been named one of the fastest growing technology companies in North America in the annual Deloitte Technology Fast 500. Based on revenue growth of 1,057% from 1999 to 2003, and 1,098% from 2000 to 2004, the company ranked number 207 and 167 in the annual competition. A native of Bangladesh, Mr. Hoque is passionately committed to raising global awareness of social, economic, and sustainability issues and actively works to educate and foster economic viability. Recently, he further dedicated his attention to those less fortunate by establishing BTM Agrim in an effort to develop innovative social business models. He has written numerous articles and papers for such publications as BusinessWeek, The Economist, Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, Baseline, and CIO Magazine, and is a frequent public speaker.
